Ice Fishing Jan.19-20, 2013

Finally, Ice Fishing in Galena! We drove to Ron and Kathy's home in Galena Friday night. Ron and I prepared the equipment sled, in the garage. Looks like we're ready to go!

We got up at 6:30, with Kathy and Pat preparing a quick breakfast for us.

Alarmingly, the Temperature is 35 degrees. Ron and I drove out to the lake to find several people already on the ice.
We drilled our first hole, and then set up the tent, Should have been the other way around! So, now we drilled a second hole inside the tent. We had a jolly group of guys and gals a short distance way, and they were catching! We also had Ron's friend Tim right next to us, and he was catching! Soon, a fish caught signal became "DuBouchette" in honor of the Schnapps we were all drinking. (There were no such yells coming from our tent).

After a lunch break, we came back to find most of the folks leaving or gone. Feeling sorry for us, they left a "gift" fish for us in the tent. When they found out my age, they each solemnly shook my hand and said goodbye, it had been nice fishing with me. Good Grief! We ended the day by leaving our tent for the next day.
Sunday was cold. 13 degrees. Ron wore cleats this time and could more easily walk across the ice. I had to slid-walk. The tent was in a heap, having been blow down by the overnight wind. We set up up as best as possible. I tested out my orange hood-thing. Perfect!

DuBouchette! Ron Catches a FISH! Life is GOOD!
